Dave and Jenny Marrs of Bentonville’s Fixer to Fabulous are BACK and better than ever with Welcome Inn, a 4-part series where they take on flipping an historic, 1800s home into a functional bed and breakfast. Our very own Matt McClure, Executive Chef of The Hive at 21c, was approached to give his own twist to the latest Marrs project. Below, you can find the recipe for Grandma Marrs’s Banana Blueberry Bread – a treasured family recipe, now with McClure’s Arkansas flair – that will be served at the local B&B. Try it out for yourself and check out the first episode, airing Tuesday, March 22nd at 8pm CST on HGTV.
Ingredients :
2 cups AP Flour
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup Brown Sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 med bananas mashed
1 cup fresh blueberries
1 pinch cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice (FRESHLY GROUND)
Instructions :
In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and spices.
In a large mixing bowl, add the cream the butter and sugar.
Add bananas, a slowly add in dry ingredients, mixing until it just comes together.
Fold in blueberries.
Pour batter into a buttered loaf pan.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until internal temp reached 206 F.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan and enjoy!
